Simi Valley Family YMCA Capital Expansion Project Update 10/23/2026
Greetings Contributors and Friends,
We have very exciting news to share:
Construction Begins
The first step of construction at our Simi Valley Family YMCA has begin! Demolition of the parking lot began in early October. The Y also received its final construction permits and is presently finalizing bridge loan financing arrangements. Construction will begin following completion of demolition and construction readiness activities.
This is a very exciting moment for our Y. After years of planning, fundraising, and hard work, we are finally seeing our Simi Valley Family Y expansion become a reality.
Fundraising Update
Over the past two years, SEVY leadership has been working closely with Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin exploring public funding assistance for our project. We are thrilled to announce that Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin successfully secured $1 million in funding for the Simi Valley YMCA Expansion Project as part of the California State Budget Assembly Bill 113. On September 18, Governor Newsom signed the bill. This is a momentous milestone for our Y and a tremendous testament to the importance of this project to our community. A ceremony celebrating the check presentation was held with public officials on October 22.
Project Funding Status: $7.5 million project goal
- Simi Valley Family Y Capital Campaign Goal: $2.5 million Raised to date: $2 million
- Public & Alternative Funding Goal Goal: $2 million Raised to date: $1 million
- Southeast Ventura County YMCA Association Commitment $3 million contributed
- Total remaining to be raised: $1.5 million
Final Stretch
We are well poised to launch the final stretch of the campaign. Campaign leadership is working with a small group of remaining potential contributors- individuals and local businesses. Meetings are also in process with current major donors inviting their consideration of increasing their gifts to help us stretch toward the $500,000 needed to achieve the $2.5 million capital campaign goal. Simultaneously, Y leadership is working with public officials exploring Federal and State funding in
2027 and select remaining Foundation prospects to achieve the remaining $1 million needed to complete the Public and Alternative Funding Goal.
We want to thank each of you for your support and belief in this project. This has truly been a community wide team effort. The impact this expansion will have on the Simi Valley community for generations to come will be extraordinary. We have worked incredibly hard to get here, and now we are about to see the vision become a reality. We will continue to keep you updated on construction progress and opportunities beginning in spring 2027 to see construction live underway.
