FIND MY GENIUS

AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

In collaboration with the Simi Valley and Moorpark Unified School Districts, the Southeast Ventura County YMCA has created an enriching after school program for low- to moderate-income students. The Find My Genius Program (FMG) provides students with STEAM enrichment, social-emotional learning, homework support, academic instruction, healthy snacks and opportunities for physical activity. FMG is scholarship based and completely free to families who qualify.

SVUSD: All families will need to see if they qualify for the program. Please visit 6Crickets to create a profile and complete the application. SVUSD will then process your information and contact us if you qualify.

ATTENDANCE: 

Your child’s success depends on their attendance in the program. For that reason, we and the school district ask that students attend at least 80% of the program. This means missing no more than one day per week or not leaving earlier than 4:30 p.m. daily. Attendance in the Find My Genius afterschool enrichment program will be tracked and provided to the school district. Scholars who are absent on a regular basis may be dropped from the program. If your child will be absent, it is imperative that you let your Site Director know.

THINGS TO BRING:

  • Homework: We have homework time each day and will be communicating with teachers as well.
  • Personal Water Bottle: Please write child’s name on water bottle.

WHAT TO LEAVE AT HOME:

  • Toys and Electronics: We have enriching activities and games planned for each day, so please leave personal toys and electronics at home!

SIGN-OUT PROCEDURES:

  • Our afterschool program starts at dismissal and ends at 6:00pm.
  • Please arrive by 5:45pm to allow time to electronically sign your child out. Children will only be dismissed to adults listed on the registration form. If you wish to add an adult at a later time, email your Site Director – all requests MUST be received in writing.
  • If you are going to check your child out before 5:45pm, you will need to call the site phone to let us know.

MEDICATIONS:

In the event that your scholar will require medication while in our program, please let us know which form you will need (see below) - we cannot administer medications without these forms on file in advance.

  • Medication Authorization – For students requiring daily medication. All medications must be given to us with directions from the doctor or with a prescription label on it. We can only give as directed.
  • Authorization for Inhaled Medication – This form must be completed by a doctor and also signed by a parent.
  • Authorization for Epi-Pen – This form must be completed by a doctor and also requires a parent signature
